Mr. Hallgarten has over 20 years experience in hotel and residential operations, feasibility, development, construction and asset management work in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Since 1997, Mr. Hallgarten has been involved with all aspects of hotel and residential acquisitions, development and asset management, working as a consultant for The Bridgetown Group, The Alpha Group and as West Coast Vice President of Development for Hardin Capital. During this time, Mr. Hallgarten was responsible for the successful acquisition, development and asset management of close to $1 billion of hotel and residential assets, in California, DC, Florida, Colorado and Mexico.

Mr. Hallgarten began his career in Europe and Australia working as a chef and hotel manager before joining the London-based real estate feasibility groups at KPMG and then Deloitte and Touche. In 1993, Mr. Hallgarten joined the development group at Westin Hotels & Resorts, based in Seattle, Washington, where he remained during the sale of the company to Starwood Capital and Goldman, Sachs & Co.

Mr. Hallgarten has a BA Hons. from Bristol University (England), and a post graduate degree in hotel management from Manchester University’s Hollings Faculty.

Significant Hospitality Experience:

  • Northview Hotel Group - Purchase of over $500 million of hotel assets in DC, Florida and the Virgin Islands from 2004 to present.
  • Hardin Capital - Acquisition, and development of over $60 million of hotel assets in the San Francisco market.
  • Sunstone Hotels & Resorts - Underwrote the acquisition, re-development and development of $100 million of hotel and resort assets for Sunstone Hotels & Resorts.
  • Westin Portland - Led the development effort for Westin Portland, and the creation of the Westin200 concept.
  • Westin Hotels & Resorts - Identified, structured and negotiated 12 deals while at Westin Hotels & Resorts from 1993 to 1997 including acquisitions, management and franchise contracts and the pre-development oversight of three ground up deals.
  • Deloitte and Touche, and KPMG Management Consultants - Feasibility experience as a consultant in the hospitality and real estate groups of both firms.
  • Operational hotel and restaurant experience in Europe and Australia.
